A week since Responsive Conference

Welcome to Snafu, a newsletter about authentic influence in our chaotic world.

Responsive Conference 2026 was the best event I've produced. Today, instead of an essay, I'm pleased to share some media from the conference.

A week since Responsive Conference

Responsive Conference 2026 was the best event I've ever produced. Instead of a fresh article this week, I wanted to share some highlights.

Recap video

Whether you joined us in person or are curious to learn some of what the buzz is about, watch the highlight video.

Main stage videos

Videos from the main stage are now up on Youtube, including a fireside chat with Eric Ries, Rebecca Hind's opening keynote, and more. Watch them on YouTube.

Graphic recordings

Trent of MarkerNinja recorded the main stage throughout Day 1 of the conference. Those graphics are available here.

3 Things I’ve Loved This Week

Quote I'm Considering

"The real problem of humanity is the following: we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and god-like technology."

–Edward O. Wilson, American Naturalist

Article I'm reading

The AI Bubble Explained by Hugh Howey

I continue to be impressed by Hugh Howey, not for his best-selling Silo trilogy, but for the quality of his non-fiction writing. This recent article breaks down the current situation about AI, and the revolving door of money that makes it possible.

Beautiful art I'm exploring

The Stranger Project

From the website:

Do you ever see a stranger and wonder...
What's it like to be you?
I’ve been asking that question since 2009 and have received more than 100,000 hand-written, true, and anonymous answers.

This is a hauntingly beautiful project where strangers write out their anonamous stories for others to read.

I'm consdering how I might do something similar at next year's Responsive Conference.

Attend Responsive Conference

A decade ago, the Responsive manifesto warned that the rate of change was accelerating, and the future would become harder to predict.

That future is here.

Established in 2016, Responsive Conference brings together 250 CHROs, CPOs, founders, and executives for an immersive two-day experience about work.

The conference is built for leaders who want new ideas, tools, and a community that understands what it's actually like to lead amidst uncertainty.

Until next week,
Robin

Welcome to Snafu, a newsletter about authentic influence in our chaotic world. We're going to see an increasing disparity in how people use technology: between those who use technology to challenge themselves and those who embrace the ways these tools make life frictionless. I am liable to fall into either camp. Was it sent to you? Subscribe here. The AI Divide I reread Strunk and White’s The Elements of Style recently, and I'm increasingly irritated by AI writing. It is going to get better...

Welcome to Snafu, a newsletter about authentic influence in our chaotic world. Ten years ago, Tony Hsieh showed up to my first conference with an entourage — and changed how I think about hospitality. Was it sent to you? Subscribe here. What Tony Hsieh Taught Me About Hospitality As we enter the final four weeks leading into Responsive Conference 2026, I can't help but reflect on the first annual Responsive Conference, which took place 10 years ago this September. I was an inexperienced event...

Welcome to Snafu, a newsletter about authentic influence in our chaotic world. Eighteen months ago, I was sure the AI tsunami would wash away our work at Zander Media. Instead we've had our most varied year yet. As AI remakes every industry, the value of real humans talking honestly on camera only grows. Was it sent to you? Subscribe here. Real Humans on Camera Still Matter 18 months ago, I predicted that our work at Zander Media would have evaporated due to the coming AI tsunami. I'm very...
